Piazzolla - Recordando Gardel CONCERT FOR Bandoneòn, Daniele di Bonaventura – Sax soprano & baritono, Javier Girotto Arches Orchestra |
||||||
It is true that, in the last ten years, the great master’s music has fully entered in the olympus of classical music but it is also true that there has been an exeedingly and inappropriate abuse and provocation which has caused a considerable inflation. This project seeks a path starting with some of his less famous pieces, through the most classic side, to which Piazzolla had always referred, arriving at a style of jazz with which he collaborated many times and through which he had the possibility to express more deeply his own language and artistic personality. The show is a Bandeoneon-Sax and String Orchestra concert, including Astor Piazzolla compositions (Jeanne y Paul; El Penultimo; Mort; Cafè 1930; La Felure; etc.) and original compositions by di Bonaventura-Girotto dedicated to him (Tango dell’Assenza; Milonga; Madres; Fuga; Azulejos; etc.), whose style has a direct connection with the latin world and even more with jazz and the new tango.
The arrangemnts, the orchestrations (by the same Di Bonaventura) and the particular instrumental structure make the concert unique and most entrancing.This project seeks to create an exchange and collaboration mainly with operatic and symphonic structures, which for years, have been opening new musical horizon, particurarly with musicians of different cultures and backgrounds. A local string orchestra is preferable to assure a superior and more economical performance.

Girotto saxes : Soprano e Baritone String Orchestra or String QuintetIn 2001 with “Recordando Piazzolla” the duo Girotto- Di Bonaventura, payed homage to Astor Piazzolla, recognizing him as the one who revolutionized the idea of tango, up to then only a traditional dance, tranforming it principally into an audible sentiment and a rhythm to be blended with improvisation. If Piazzolla was the founder of modern tango, “CARLOS GARDEL” was its greatest interpreter, a singer who expressed to the highest level the pathos and the sensuality of traditional tango. The duo Girotto-Di Bonaventura dedicate these two CDs intitled “RECORDANDO GARDEL” to the argentinian singer-auther who died, at age 34, in an airplane accident in Medellin (Colombia) June 24 1935. The CD pieces are taken from the singer’s rare or lesser known repertoire. In this same accident Alfredo Le Pera also lost his life, co-auther and lyric-writer of Gardel’s songs and play-writer of his movies. “Por una cabeza” is one of the most famous of Gardel’s movies and is also the main title of the soundtrack. “El Morocho” as it is named by the argentinians, was the greatest populaur tango hero and for thousands of latin-americans he was one of the most authentic XXth century artists.
