Sax - soprano-baritone -flute -bass clarinet - quenas - sicus - composer - arranger Javier was born in Cordoba ( Argentina ) April 17 1965. He now is an Italian citizen and lives in Rome. He enroled at the Conservatorio Provincial De Cordoba, clarinet and traverso flute in order to have classical curriculum srudies, arriveing to the fifth year of conservatory for both the instruments (all becouse there was no sax class, and his real desire was to continue sax studies ). After a long activity in Argentina as musician, at age 19 he obtained a scholar-ship fot the United States at the “Berklee College of Music”. So at age 21, he moved to Boston where he studied four years in the famous university, and graduated in “Professional Music” “Magnum cum Laude”. Among the american performances we remenber important collaborations with Danilo Perez, George Garzone, Hall Crook, Bob Moses, Herb Pomeroy, Bob Moses and many oyher local musicians. At age 25 he visited Italy to know the natal country of his family, coming from Puglia. Once in Rome he decided not to return in the U.S.A. and choosed this town to live in. The first group he created in Rome is “TERCER MUNDO” together with Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez (latin jazz) sextet with piano, bass, percussions, drums, trumpet and sax; at the same time he began to write and arrange a new repertoire for another group that will be named “ SIX SAX “, with which he will record his first CD, with guests as Bob Mintzer e Randy Brecker. The group is formed by a sax quartet with bass and drums. From this moment he started mixing jazz with his argentinian roots, he began writing and thinking at the kind of music that today is well esemplificated by the group ““AIRES TANGO” with which he has already recorded nine CDs. Aires Tango is for him essentially a creative cocktail of tango, jazz, ethnical music, much improvisation and a lot of writing and arranging. The group is formed by piano, bass, percussions ans sax. At the same time of Aires Tang,o he began collaborating with the quintet of Roberto Gatto (drums), with whom he plays since eight years, with Rita Marcotulli, Nada, Enrico Rava, Paolo Fresu, Gianluca Petrella, Bebo Ferra, Antonello Salis, Gianni Coscia, Peppe Servillo, Angà Diaz, Furio Di Castri, Tony Scott, Arto Tuncboiacian, Michel Benita, Carlo Rizzo, Aldo Romano, Luis Agudo, Maurizio Giammarco, Stefano Battaglia, Michel Godard, Anouar Brahem, Gianluigi Trovesi , Ornella Vanoni, Jeff Ballard, Ed Simon, Ben Street, PmjO, and many others. In 1999 another group was formed, with which he had more chances of using the argentinian folkloristical rhthms and, obviously, tango. “CORDOBA REUNION” is a group formed by four musicians coming from the same town and with the same folklore and traditional background. The quartet has recorded a CD with the collaboration of the singer “Mercedes Sosa”. We see them every year in a tour mainly in France and nothern Europe such as Holand and Belgium. In year 2000 he formed the duo with Daniele Di Bonaventura (bandoneon), with whom he recorded two CDs: “JAVIER GIROTTO PLAYS RAVA” and “RECORDANDO PIAZZOLLA”, with the enrichment of a thirteen string element orchestra, in this CD Girotto, for the first time, could accomplish the desire of playing and record the original compositions of the argentinian bandoneonist together with improvisation. Almost in contemporary another duo was created, with Luciano Biondini (accordion), with whom he recorded two CDs, conteining original compositions and returning to the most free improvisation. The first disc is of 2002 fo the label Philology “ El Cacerolazo”, the second in 2005 for the label ENJA RECORDS “Terra Madre”. Also this second duo shows them protagonists in festivals and clubs in Italy and even more in Germany, Austria and Eastern Europe. Alwaysl in 2000 he was called to be part of “ONJ” (Orchestre National du Jazz) of Paris, a one year collaboration. In 2002 he joined the di Enrico Rava “Piano less” quartet with whom he recorded a CD, “Full of Life” together with Ares Tavolazzi and Fabrizio Sferra. He played and still does, in the most important festivals, theatres, musical reviews and jazz italian clubs such as, the “Ambra Jovinelli” Theatre , “Villa Celimontana - Jazz Image”, “La Palma - Fandango”, Quirinale - SalaConcerti, Radio RAI 3, Roccella Ionica, “La Sapienza” University, Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, medicine and Surgery “Agostino Gemelli, Literature and Philosophy Tor Vergata University, “Piccinni” Theatre of Bari, Massenzio- Rome, Mercati Traiani - Rome, “Casa del Jazz” in Rome, “Jazz & Wine” of Cormon, Montalcino, Altomonte, Auditorium in Rome and Santa Cecilia, the Repub.
