Corvini & Iodice ROMA JAZZ ENSEMBLE
BRIEF INFORMATION :
Started in 1993 from an idea of Pietro Iodice and from his collaboration with Mario Corvini, the project was to create an experimental workshop to build up a repertoire that would hold not only the american big band tradition but also italian original songs in the composition and in the arrangements by Pino Iodice and Mario Corvini.

The band has been described as “…one of the most brilliant group formations which includes some of the best young soloists active in Rome…”(Musica Jazz, Salvatore G. Biamonte), with musicians “ bound by the passion for music and also by the desire to make this musical project, in which they believe, grow.” (from the weekly Luci delle Città).

The band will perform for the “Formia Jazz”, Festival del Teatro Metastasio di Prato” “Festival delle Orchestre Jazz” in Campobasso and “Jazz & Image” in Rome and “goes with a following wind, from the american tradition to pure experimentation” (Messaggero, Orietta Cicchinelli), “……the public feasts on a lacerating swing with original written pages …and with new arrangements of the classics….: a huge success.” (Musica Jazz, Salvatore G. Biamonte).

Lastly, the “Corvini & Iodice Roma Jazz Ensemble” is proud of its valuable collaboration such as with Bob Mintzer, Jack Walrath and George Garzone as reported also in some of the most highly reputable newspapers ( Ira Gitler of Down Beat wrote: “.....the tenor sax George Garzone guested with the Corvini & Iodice Big Band....”) and with Yusef Lateef in the Teatro Metastasio of Prato.

. The band has already edited the first disc for the “VIA VENETO” label titled “SIGNOR JONES” which came out in the year 2000 only in the U.S.A.; for the moment the Cd “Live in Prato” for “Yal record” label with Yusef Lateef and Matt Waugh. The next CD should come out by the end of this year.
