Javier Girotto / Luciano Biondini & Paolo Silvestri Ensemble
“ANIVERSARIO”

The new project from the Festival Musicale del Mediterraneo was born from the encounter between Javier Girotto and Paolo Silvestri who for a long time, have worked together to blend traditional argentinian music with fine european music and with jazz, through written composition and improvvisation.

This collaboration began in 2002 with the recording of a disc called “ Aniversario”, with Girotto’s compositions, playd together with the group of Aires Tango and the symphonic orchestra of Sofia, with the arrangements and direction of Silvestri.

This occasion offers a special ensemble with eight wind instruments and a doublebass with both classical and jazz musicians. Among the foremost figures of the evening there is also Luciano Biondini, accordion virtuoso and improvvisor improvisor, an argentinian music conaisseur and frequent partener of Girotto, he is experienced with encounters between different musical genders. His numerous projects mix jazz with the symphonic orchestra, collaborating upon the occasion with musicians such as Enrico Rava, Gato Barbieri, Ivano Fossati, Stefano Bollani, Roberto Gatto, Luciano Biondini, accordian, after classical studies and numerous national and international awards, comes closest to jazz starting upon a concert career that leads him to partecipate in numerous festivals in various parts of Europe such as Umbria Jazz Winter, Festival dei Due Mondi, Metronome and others.
